AWC Shadowlands Circuit – Week 1

Overview

This weekend saw two days of combat in the AWC shadowlands circuit (Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st March) saw both EU and NA competing in a round robin setup. The round robin setup means each team will play eachother in a best of 5 match. However, because the tournament is online I do believe that only EU will compete with EU teams and NA will compete against other NA teams. The top 4 teams will go into the AWC Shadowlands Finals to fight for blizzcon champion in shadowlands. We’ll go into more detail of each of the days below in case you weren’t able to see some amazing games this weekend.

Saturday 20th March

Saturday saw 4 EU games and only 3 NA games being played. The games were as follows. Listed in the VODs description are the teams names and respective ranks:

(7) Tegridy Damp vs (8) Ad Hoc Gaming

(3) Cowana Gaming vs (4) Reload Esports

(5) Creed vs (6) Blast Wave Bros

(1) Skill Capped vs (2) Method EU

(3) Cloud9 vs (5) Hamsters & Hares

(1) Method NA vs (7) Unitas

(4) Charlotte Phoenix vs (8) Spacestation

You can find the VOD just below if you want to watch Saturdays games:

AWC Shadowlands Circuit Week 1 – Day 1

Saturday started with Tegridy damp facing off against Ad Hoc Gaming with Tegridy damp taking the series 3-2, then followed by Cowana Gaming vs Reload Esports with Cowana gaming taking the series 3-2 as well. Then it was time for Creed and Blast Wave Bros to take to the stage with Creed taking down Blast Wave Bros in a 3-1 series. Then we had Skill Capped EU fighting off against Method EU with Skill Capped EU taking the series 3-1 as well.

We then headed over to the NA games which saw Cloud9 take the series 3-1 as well to start off the NA circuit. Then Method NA took a convincing 3-0 against Unitas, giving us our first 3-0 series of the weekend. We then closed the day of arena matches with our final series of Charlotte Phoenix taking on Spacestation gaming with Charlotte Phoenix taking it 3-0.

Sunday 21st March

Sunday saw 3 EU games and 4 NA games this time around. I would assume to have an even amount of EU and NA games played throughout the weekend. Listed again in the VODs description are the teams names and respective ranks:

(1) Skill Capped vs (6) Blast Wave Bros

(2) Method EU vs (5) Creed

(3) Cowana Gaming vs (7) Tegridy Damp

(1) Method NA vs (4) Charlotte Phoenix

(2) OTK vs (3) Cloud9

(5) Hamsters & Hares vs (7) Unitas

(6) Golden Guardians vs (8) Spacestation

AWC Shadowlands Circuit Week 1 – Day 2

Sunday started off with Skill Capped EU facing off against Blast Wave Bros. Skill Capped EU taking the series 3-0, a very strong start to the night. It seems as though Blast Wave Bros healer has retired, this was mentioned on the stream so I don’t think we’ll expect to see him returning, which meant that Blast Wave Bros unfortunately couldn’t play up to their potential against arguably one of the best teams in EU currently. The second series of the night was played by none other than Method EU against Creed. Creed played turbo and took the series 3-1 against Method EU. Our third series of the night was played by Cowana Gaming going up against Tegridy Damp with Tegridy Damp taking the series 3-2, it was an incredibly close series between the two teams. Which ended the EU circuit for the weekend.

Moving over to NA we had Method NA against Charlotte Phoenix with Method NA ending it in a convincing 3-0 series. It was then time for OTK to take to the stage facing off against Cloud9 with Cloud9 taking the series 3-0 as well. Following them was Hamsters and Hares vs Unitas with Hamsters and Hares taking down Unitas in another 3-0 series. Then the final series of the night came down to Golden Guardians fighting off against Spacestation Gaming, with Golden Guardian ending the series in another convincing 3-0.

As the weekend came to and end

After teams had fought against one another across the two days of action packed arena games totaling to 14 matches played over the course of two days, of course, they have to do it all over again next week. According to the schedule the games resume on Saturday 27th of March which is this coming weekend. So something for you all to look forward to.

Wrapping up

It was a fun weekend with a lot of enjoyable games to watch. There were a number of suprising events such as Method EU unfortunately going 0-2 so far in the circuit but we get to see if they will bounce back from next weekend. As they still have a couple more weeks to pull it back and make it to the AWC shadowlands circuit finals. That’s all I got for you for now, but I will post about next weeks circuit for those of you take an interest in these posts.
