Let’s get into it
Gearing for PvP in shadowlands is incredibly important. Without gear you do basically no damage and you also die incredibly fast. Gearing for PvP with PvP gear is the ultimate way because versatility is an incredibly important stat. But, we’re not at the start of the season anymore and to get good gear, you need rating to upgrade your gear, but, so many players are highly geared/fully geared at low rating from my experience. How do I recommend gearing? Let’s find out.
Getting honor gear
I recommend getting honor gear and trying to get it upgraded to 197 for most pieces, because, without the gear it’s going to be a real challenge getting into any group because your ilvl will be too low, if you search hard enough you might get lucky enough to get an RBG group with low ilvl, but I don’t think it’s a reliable strategy. If you’re levelling up in threads of fate, I recommend doing BGs/epic BGs alongside quests to get enough honor for full honor gear upon dinging 60.
Getting in 2v2
Gearing in 2v2 is a very viable option, but, if you’re queuing into fully geared players it might take you quite a long time to get full conquest cap and purchasing conquest gear. Not to mention you’ll then have to try and get 1400 rating to upgrade the gear again, could be quite a rough journey to get good ilvl gear through 2v2. LFG would be the way to find partners to queue with if you don’t have a mate who’s down to play, but, LFG can be quite hard to get partners as people like to leave after 1-2 losses maybe 3 if you’re lucky, but, it’s not impossible to find someone to grind with. Just stat your intentions in the title, like “0cr cap farm lf chill games”.
Getting in 3v3
Gearing in 3v3 is almost the same as in 2v2. Although it’ll be more fast paced games and if you’re not experienced in your class you’re going to have a very tough time winning games regardless. If you’re just learning a class the best way to learn it would be through 2v2 instead of 3v3. But if you’ve got a couple of mate you want to queue with for fun, then 3v3 is a great way to do it. Finding people in LFG is the same as with 2v2 but you need to find an extra partner to play with
Gearing in RBGs
Rated battlegrounds are an excellent choice. Not only do you get some nice honor from wins, but you also get conquest and I would love to highlight some of the incredible rating gains you can get, which can lead to a fast rating gain and then the ability to upgrade your gear. Take a look at this small snippet of some of my gains (and a couple losses) in RBGs

If you also find a group doing voice at low CR you’re I believe, likely to win most of your games. I believe the best way to gear up as quickly and almost painlessly as possible would be to do RBGs. You can queue for these once again by going through LFG which will be in my opinion your best bet. Or if you have 9 other friends then you could queue with them, which would probably be more fun for you but that all depends on if you have 9 friends playing wow who would wanna queue?
Wrapping up
There are a few options to gear up in shadowlands, none of them are terrible but to kill two birds with one stone I think RBGs would be the best way to go. Good honor and good conquest from wins not to mention the incredibly rating gains you could see going forward. LFG for any of the options is for the most part the best way to get a group. It can be a toxic way to play, but, you can have good experiences from it and you could also along the way make some friends if you get on well and vibe. GLHF and I hope this helps you take your gear to the next level, or, if levelling get gear at 60 to headstart the process.
